Health and Safety and Anti Slip Applications
Health and Safety legislation states you must manage the health and safety risks in your workplace.
To do this you simply need to think about what, in your business, might cause harm to people and decide whether you are doing enough to prevent that harm. This is known as a risk assessment.
A risk assessment is not about creating huge amounts of paperwork, but rather about identifying sensible measures to control the risks in your workplace. The law does not expect you to remove all risks, but you must be seen to be protecting people by putting in place measures to control those risks.
GripDeck can help you reduce risks by providing a range of anti slip applications.
The DDA – Disability Discrimination Act
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 requires property owners and businesses to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to the physical features of their buildings, to ensure that there is nothing that can act as a barrier to entry for disabled people.
Simple ways to comply with this legislation, would be to add a non slip ramp to your steps, or highlight the edges of your steps so not to block the entrance of people with a visual impairment to your building.
Alterations to buildings however need to comply with the Part M Building Regulations and for many companies and organisations considering changes to their building, the DDA and Building regulations can make the job of planning for alterations a confusing project.
